Where Locals Eat in Patchogue — The Insider’s Food Guide
May 26, 2026 ◆ 8 min read ◆ Nino’s Pizzeria
Patchogue’s food scene has grown a lot over the last ten years or so. Main Street is lined with restaurants, bars, coffee shops and specialty spots, and plenty of them stay busy into the evening. Figuring out where to eat in Patchogue the way locals do takes a little more than clicking the first search result. We’re on Medford Ave, we feed a lot of this town every day, and we hear what people are talking about. So here’s our take.
This guide is for anyone. Maybe you’ve lived here for years, maybe you’re coming over from Sayville or Bellport, or maybe you’re just passing through and hungry. We’ll go meal by meal, from a cheap lunch to a night out. Some of the places people love most aren’t the ones that show up first online, and that’s worth knowing.
Breakfast and Coffee in Patchogue
Coffee to start the day
If you’re thinking about breakfast, start with coffee. Patchogue has a good independent coffee scene, and people here use it. You’ll find cafes with seasonal drinks and baristas who remember your order after a few visits. A lot of them are fine with you bringing a laptop and staying a while. Grab something hot, find a corner table and settle in.
Bagels and breakfast sandwiches
Bagels are a big deal on Long Island, and Patchogue’s no different. An egg and cheese on a fresh bagel is how a lot of mornings start around here. There are independent bagel shops and delis in and around town, and they’re usually easy on the wallet. As a general tip, look for bagels that are boiled before they’re baked. You can taste it.
Weekend brunch
On weekends, Main Street gets busy with the brunch crowd. Pancakes, omelets, avocado toast, mimosas and Bloody Marys are all easy to find. If you want to sit outside in summer or early fall, get there early. Those tables go fast.
Lunch in Patchogue: Quick Bites and Sit-Down Spots
Fast lunch under $15
Lunch doesn’t have to be complicated. Around town you’ve got pizzerias for a slice and a soda, delis for heroes and Italian cold cuts, casual Italian places with pasta specials and spots for wraps and salads. For a quick weekday lunch, one of those usually does the trick.
Nino’s Pizzeria on Medford Ave is an easy lunch stop. A regular slice is $3, a Sicilian slice is $3.50, wraps are $9.95 and heroes start at $11.95. We’re open from 11am Monday through Saturday and from noon on Sunday.
Sit-down lunch
When you’ve got time to slow down, Main Street has sit-down places for a business lunch or a relaxed meal. You’ll find Italian, American, Asian and Mediterranean food at a range of prices. The lunch rush usually hits between noon and 1:30. If you’d rather skip the wait, try going a little before noon or after 1:45.

Long Island has deep Italian-American roots, and you can taste it in Patchogue. You’ll find classic red-sauce places and more modern Italian menus. Chicken parm, eggplant rollatini and baked ziti are easy to find, and people around here are loyal to their favorite spots. Ask around and you’ll hear about them. If you want to try ours, chicken parm with spaghetti is $17.95 and baked ziti is $15.95.

Everybody in Patchogue has an opinion about the best pizza in Patchogue, and nobody’s changing their mind. People argue about crust, how sweet the sauce is and the cheese. We make NY-style round pies, Sicilian and Grandma pies. A cheese pie is $16.95, the Grandma is $20 and the Cheese Siciliana is $23.95. Come try a slice and decide for yourself.
Seafood in Patchogue
Patchogue sits on the Great South Bay, so seafood’s never far away. Options run from casual spots with a raw bar and a cold beer to sit-down seafood dinners. On summer weekend nights, the places near the water fill up fast, so plan ahead.
Steakhouses and American food
Patchogue holds its own for steaks, burgers and comfort food. Some places run seasonal menus, and there’s no shortage of good cheeseburgers. If you care about drinks, look for a spot where the bar menu actually goes with the food.
Food from around the world
You’ll find Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Latin American food in and around Patchogue. A lot of the favorites spread by word of mouth and don’t always show up first on Google. Ask a neighbor or a coworker who’s been here a while. They’ll usually have a name for you.
Drinks and Nightlife in Patchogue
Cocktail bars
The cocktail scene in Patchogue has grown over the last few years. Several bars on Main Street put real work into their drinks, with seasonal menus that change up. You can have dinner and drinks on the same stretch of Main Street without going anywhere else.
Wine bars and quieter spots
If the louder bars aren’t your thing, there are wine bars and lounges along Main Street with smaller rooms and a calmer feel. They’re good for a date, catching up with a friend or a glass after dinner.
Late-night eats
Patchogue stays up later than a lot of Long Island towns, especially on weekends. After a show at the Patchogue Theatre or a night out on Main Street, people usually look for a diner, a taco spot, a bar kitchen with wings and fries or a late slice. Hours change from place to place, so check before you go. For the record, we’re open until 9:30pm every night.
Tips for Picking a Spot
Don’t just go with the first thing you see
Some places on a busy street are there mostly for foot traffic. Before you sit down, check the menu and prices, and look at a few recent reviews. The easiest move is to ask someone who’s lived in Patchogue a while. They’ll tell you where they go.
Give the independents a try
Chains are around if you want something familiar. But Patchogue has a lot of independent restaurants, pizzerias and cafes, and a lot of people who live here stick with the local places out of habit and loyalty. It’s a big part of what gives the town its character.
